||Tricia Ferrara has written an empowering book that is full of practical parenting advice that preaches some fairly new and progressive concepts. Parents really connected with her philosophies about how they don’t have to be victims to societal expectations about child rearing, but instead just do their own part as parents to elevate ideas and parenting styles. She believes that a parent should be a leader, not a dictator to their children. The thought is that kids learn more from watching and modeling after us than from what we tell them. The bottom line here is that we should be practicing what we are preaching. The author urges parents to value the power of play and to consider that what we might perceive as disobedience could just be the way our child communicates with us. Tricia encourages parents to enjoy the whole learning process and to appreciate that there are all kinds of intelligences. In today’s society that pushes our kids to be the smartest, the best, the fastest, etc., this is a wake-up call to take a step back and let your child find their own path with your loving guidance. Parents agreed, no matter what stage of parenting you are currently in, you can take away something from this book.
